Lions Club Shimla hosts free diabetes awareness and screening camp on World Diabetes Day
The Lions Club of Shimla has long been dedicated to community development through civic, cultural, and health awareness initiatives. In alignment with this commitment, the club organized a ‘Diabetes Screening & Blood Test Camp’ on World Diabetes Day, November 14th, at Neen Panchayat in Basantpur Block, Shimla. This camp aimed to educate locals about the impacts of diabetes and encourage proactive health management.
Club President, Lion Man Mohan Verma, emphasized the importance of spreading awareness about diabetes and its health risks. Leading the initiative, Lion Dr. Rajesh Chanana, Project Chairperson, provided guidance to residents on diabetes management based on results from blood tests conducted by BVP Clinical Laboratory, Shimla. The camp also offered free medication to attendees as part of the outreach effort.
Panchayat Pradhan Sh. Baldev Verma, along with other members, expressed gratitude to the Lions Club for organizing this vital health initiative. He noted the importance of providing rural residents with accessible health information and the necessary resources to “know their risk” and take informed actions against diabetes.
The camp witnessed the participation of over 200 community members, including students. Attendees benefited from a range of free blood tests, including those for diabetes (FBS, PP) and general health markers such as CVC, TLC, DLC, and hemoglobin levels.
The Lions Club delegation was represented by President Lion Man Mohan Verma, Project Chairperson Lion Dr. Rajesh Chanana, Secretary Lion M.K. Sharma, and other distinguished members, including Lion Sufal Sood, Lion D.K. Chauhan, Lion Gopal Vaid, Lion J.P. Sharma, Lion Sunil Sood, Lion Pradeep Sood, and Lion Daleep Kumar.
