The tourists’ mouths start watering on seeing the corn cobs and they stop their vehicles to buy them. Rajesh, who is roasting corn in Sillonbag, said that tourists are buying corn cobs in large quantities and every day he is getting a sack of raw corn cobs. He said that the price of roasted corn cobs has been kept at only Rs. 20. With this he is able to maintain his family well.

According to agricultural experts, maize contains fiber in large quantities, the use of which not only normalizes the cholesterol level in the body, but also prevents heart diseases. The use of maize in daily life also fulfills the deficiency of iron in the human body. Agricultural Development Officer Dr. Arjun told that maize is produced on about 6708 hectares of land in Shimla district, which produces an average of ten thousand metric tons. This year, the department made 130 quintals of maize seed available to farmers on subsidy.
