Will dedicate myself to the overall development of the state: Vikramaditya Singh

Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh has said that he is dedicated to the overall development of the state. He has always given priority to development works and will continue to do so in the future as well. For him, politics is not a profession, it is a path of service which he has inherited from his father, late Virbhadra Singh, six-time Chief Minister of the state.

Today, while addressing the general meeting of Shimla Rural Block Congress Committee officers and workers as the chief guest at the State Congress Headquarters Rajiv Bhawan, Vikramaditya Singh said that the party high command had directed him to contest the election from Mandi Parliamentary constituency. He fought the election strongly, but he did not succeed. He said that more than four and a half lakh voters of Mandi Parliamentary constituency voted for him and he is thankful to them for that. He said that victory and defeat in any election are two sides of the same coin. He said that even though he did not succeed in this election, but whatever vision he has put before the people of this Parliamentary constituency, he will fulfill it as the Public Works Minister. He said that he is not one of those people who say something and do something else.

Vikramaditya Singh said that Shimla Rural is his karmabhoomi. Being the Public Works and Urban Development Minister in the state government, he has the important responsibility of the overall development of the entire state. He said that Shimla Rural Assembly constituency is no longer rural and backward. Like Shimla city, it is now fully developed. He said that he is sad that the party’s performance in Shimla Rural was not good in the Lok Sabha elections. He said that he could not give much time to the election campaign in this area but he was hopeful that in his absence the party would have got a lead from here. He said that everyone will have to introspect as to what are the reasons for this.

Vikramaditya Singh said that what has happened is gone and now we have to think and take the right decision so that such a thing does not happen again. He said that soon the booth committees will be reorganized in this area and activated. He said that he will personally go to all the zones and hold meetings of party workers. He asked all those present in the meeting to gear up in full coordination for the upcoming municipal body and Panchayati Raj institutions elections.

Vikramaditya Singh said that Shimla is progressing rapidly in terms of rural development. He said that whether it is drinking water or road facilities, health or education sector, everything is perfect in this area, yet if there is any deficiency somewhere, it will be removed soon.

In the meeting, the block officials expressed their views on the low voting of the Congress Party at many booths in the Lok Sabha elections and said that all possible efforts will be made to ensure that this does not happen in the future.
