Whistleblower assaulted and injured in Shillai Panchayat
Himachal Pradesh Government has given the slogan of Changing System of Governance (Vayvastha Parivartan) , but the corrupt are becoming more powerful and are inflicting injuries on the whistleblower. The whistleblower identified as Pardeep was assaulted by the complainee for registering complaint against a ward member of Lani-Bohrad Panchayat of Shillai. Pardeep who is whistleblower and has been posting several social media posts to create awareness about various financial crime in the past. In a video interview posted on Tuesday which is making round in Social media, Pradeep said that he was assaulted with sharp weapons in front of state inquiry team that came to investigate a corruption case. Smeared in blood in the video he said that there was an attempt to eliminate him by the ward members and two of his relatives. Pardeep said that he had filed complaint against the ward members for allegedly indulged in selling of government supply cement. A team of state inquiry from Nahan was posted to investigate the matter and during the checking out of the 100 bags of cement only 35 are found in the Panchayat stores. This agitated the accused and he assaulted Pradeep in front of the team. The incidents occurred near Rohnat area of Shilai Subdivision. It is worthwhile to mention here that in September 7, 2018 another whistleblower blower and RTI activists Kedar Singh Jindan (43) of Bakrash village in Sirmaur District’s under Shillai Subdivision was crushed under a SUV by member of Gram Panchayat. Jindan belonged to Dalit community and was practicing as an advocate at the Shimla High Court. Union government recently decided to provide Schedule Tribe status to the (upper caste) Hatti community.
Vigilance bureau disapprove the report. SV & ACB, Nahan denied the allegation. SV & SCB has stated that no such complaint was being inquired into by Vigilance police station Nahan. ASP of VB Nahan Taranjeet Singh said that Vigilance was not probing this case.
