Welspun Founder BK Goenka to Address IITMandi’s 14 th Convocation

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi, one of India’s
leading IITs, is all set to host its 14 th Convocation Ceremony on June 20 th , 2026 ,
celebrating the achievements of 643 graduating students across undergraduate,
postgraduate and doctoral programs. The event will celebrate the academic
achievements of its outgoing students, reaffirming its commitment towards excellence
in education, research, innovations, and nation-building.
This year’s Convocation at IIT Mandi will be an occasion of great honour and
celebration, graced by Mr. B. K. Goenka, Founder, Welspun World, as the Chief Guest.
The event will also feature Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, and Prof. Rangan
Banerjee, Director, IIT Delhi, as the Guests of Honour for the ceremony. The ceremony
will be chaired by Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, VSM,
Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Mandi.
This year’s convocation will celebrate the achievements of 643 graduating students,
including 321 undergraduates, 259 postgraduates, and 63 Ph.D. scholars.
In addition, several medals and awards will be presented to recognize outstanding
achievements in academics, research, innovation, and leadership. This year’s B.Tech.
graduating cohort is the largest in the Institute’s history, making it the biggest B.Tech.
batch to graduate since the Institute’s inception.
Sharing his thoughts on the upcoming convocation event, Prof. Laxmidhar Behera,
Director, IIT Mandi, stated, “The Convocation marks an important milestone in the
journey of our graduating students and is a moment of immense pride for the
institution. It represents years of commitment, continuous learning, determination, and
academic achievement. As our students move forward to explore new opportunities and
challenges, we are confident that they will carry the values of innovation, integrity, and
social responsibility, creating a meaningful impact across sectors and societies.”
He further added, “At IIT Mandi, we continue to strengthen an ecosystem that
encourages interdisciplinary learning, research excellence, entrepreneurship, and
innovation. Our goal is to nurture individuals who are not only academically
accomplished but also equipped with the vision and capability to develop solutions for
the evolving needs of the world.”
The 14th Convocation of the prestigious IIT Mandi will be celebrated not only as an
occasion to recognize excellence but also for inspiring graduates to embody integrity,
innovation, service, and lifelong learning as they move forward on their career path.
