Weather to remain dry in Himachal, higher reaches may receive rain or snow

Mainly dry weather prevailed in the state today however light clouds are hovering in the sky and light rain and snowfall occurred at a few places in the high reaches.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, there is no large change in minimum or maximum temperatures over the last 24 hours. Both minimum and maximum temperatures were above normal.

In the past 24 hrs, Khoksar in Lahaul Spiti had 7.0 mm of rain, Kukumseri 3.2 mm, Sangla 2.6 mm, Bajura 2.5 mm, Keylong 2 mm, Gondla 1.4 mm, and Bhunter one mm. Hansa in Lahaul Spiti had five cm of Snowfall.

Minimum temperatures of Shimla was 14 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar airport 12 Kalpa in Kinnaur 6.4, Dharamshala 17.7, Una 14.4, Nahan(Sirmour ) 17, Keylong 1.1 Solan 13.7, Manali 10, Kangra 17 Mandi 13.5, Bilaspur 14.9, Hamirpur 17.7, Chamba 16, Dalhousie 8.3,  Jubberhatti airport 16.4, Kufri 11.8, Narakanda 8.5 degrees. Met Office forecasted rain and snowfall in many places in the next 24 hrs.

According to IMD, scattered clouds are forecast for most of the state over the next seven days. Isolated thunderstorms with lightning, hail, heavy rain, and gusty winds (up to 40-50 kmph ) are possible on March 29, 30, and April 1 at isolated places.

A western disturbance persists as a trough in middle and upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level along longitude 56°E to the north of latitude 22°N.
