Warm welcome to star para athlete Nishad on reaching Una

Star para-athlete Nishad Kumar, who brought honor to the country by winning a silver medal at the Paris Paralympics, was warmly welcomed in his home district of Una on Friday. District Sports & Youth Services Officer Uttam Dod from the District Administration greeted him at the Indira Gandhi Sports Stadium campus.

Nishad was accompanied by his father Rashpal Singh, mother Pushpa Devi, sister Rama Devi, and coach Nadeem Ahmed. The 25-year-old athlete hails from Badau village in Andora, Amb Tehsil of Una district.

During the occasion, Nishad expressed his joy at winning the silver medal in the Paralympics for the second consecutive time. He thanked everyone for their prayers and support, emphasizing that he left no stone unturned in his preparation and will continue to work hard.

Nishad Kumar’s Historical Achievement in the Paris Paralympics: Nishad recently secured a silver medal in the High Jump (T-47) competition at the Paralympic Games in Paris. This remarkable achievement marks his second consecutive silver medal in the Paralympics, having also won silver in the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwindra Singh Sukhu congratulated Nishad, stating, “Nishad Kumar has elevated the name of Himachal Pradesh and the country. His hard work and dedication have shown that no challenge is insurmountable. This achievement is an inspiration to the youth of the state. The state government is committed to the development of sports and will provide every possible assistance to help players make the country proud internationally.”

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri also congratulated Nishad, expressing his happiness and saying, “Nishad’s victory teaches us that with determination and confidence, no obstacle is too big. He has made the whole country proud with his performance. His success will motivate the youth to pursue their goals even in difficult circumstances.”

Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal expressed pride in Nishad’s unique achievement, stating, “Nishad has made every resident of Una proud with his performance. His achievement will help the youth understand the importance of hard work and dedication and motivate them to pursue their goals.”
