Vicky Hooda won a huge prize of Rs 1.51 lakh at the Talai Chhinj fair

The famous Talai Chhinj Fair of northern India concluded last evening with great enthusiasm. Over three hundred renowned wrestlers from northern India, including 30 women and 60 child wrestlers, displayed their strength in this Chhinj fair. Thousands of people from various regions enjoyed wrestling until late into the night. After worshipping the local goddess Kali, the wrestling began at around 11 p.m. and continued until around 8 p.m. In this Chhinj fair, renowned Haryana wrestler Vicky Hooda defeated Honey Mirlapur in the final, winning a huge prize of ₹1.51 lakh (151,000 rupees). Similarly, Akash of Chiyog defeated Abhinav Rana to win the Shimla Kesari title and received a prize of ₹25,000 (25,000 rupees). Similarly, Jyoti of Chiyog and Rishita of Bilaspur were declared joint winners in the women’s wrestling competition, receiving a prize of ₹21,000 (21,000 rupees). The women’s award was sponsored by Neha Jagta, Zila Parishad member of Tayali ward.
State BJP executive member Harish Thakur attended the fair as the chief guest. He said that this fair has been celebrated for over a century and has become the most famous Chhinj fair in northern India. The fair not only preserves ancient traditions and culture but also provides aspiring wrestlers with an opportunity to showcase their talent. Preetika Thakur, the Panchayat head of Chiyog, honored the chief guest by presenting him with a shawl, a cap, and a memento.
Rahul Thakur, member of the fair committee and president of the Kasupanti BJP Mandal Rural, stated that the people of the area have been organizing the Chhinj fair in the month of Asoj in the name of Aradhya Devi Deshu Timba’s Kali Mata for ages. People believe that the fair held in the name of Kali Mata does not cause any epidemic, but rather brings happiness and prosperity. He explained that numerous generous people have contributed to the Chhinj fair. The Chhinj fair costs approximately ten lakh rupees. He urged the state government to grant this traditional fair district-level status.
Thousands of people from different areas including Zilla Parishad member Neha Jagta, Gram Panchayat Chiyog’s head Preetika Thakur, Rahul Thakur, Dadas, Dehna’s head, former head Dinesh Jagta and sponsors of the fair participated in the fair.
