Unusual Weather Patterns Grip Himachal Pradesh in January

In a departure from the norm for January in Himachal Pradesh, the mountains, typically blanketed in snow and gripped by cold, are experiencing unexpected warmth and bright sunshine. Meanwhile, the plains are facing harsh cold conditions, with minimum temperatures plunging into the negatives for two consecutive days. Una recorded -1.0 degree Celsius, Mandi at -0.2 degree Celsius, and Kukumseri plummeted to an astonishing -11.1 degrees Celsius, marking Una’s first venture into negative temperatures in nine years. Widespread fog on Tuesday morning disrupted vehicular movement at various locations, and the Director of the India Meteorological Department, predicts potential snowfall in high-altitude areas on Wednesday. Additionally, he warns of lingering fog in the plains, leading to a significant drop in temperatures. Localities such as Mandi, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Una, Kangra, Sirmaur, and Solan are anticipated to experience fog over the next two days, urging caution for morning travelers. Noteworthy minimum temperatures include Shimla at 4.0, Sundernagar at -0.1, Bhuntar at 0.1, Kalpa at -1.8, Dharamshala at 5.2, and Nahan at 6.1 degrees Celsius. The unusual weather phenomenon prompts warnings for drivers to exercise caution during morning travel in specific regions.
