Una hosts ‘Eat Right Mela’ with Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri as Chief guest
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri inaugurated the much-anticipated Eat Right Mela in Una on December 1. The event, aimed at promoting healthy eating and nutritious lifestyles, will take place at the State Senior Secondary School courtyard, starting at 10 AM.
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal emphasized that the fair will feature engaging stalls from various departments, highlighting the importance of a balanced diet, natural farming, and local culinary traditions. The initiative aims to encourage people to adopt healthier food habits while showcasing the cultural richness of Himachal Pradesh’s cuisine.
30 Stalls to Showcase Healthy Living
The fair will feature 30 interactive and educational stalls focused on nutrition, organic farming, and traditional recipes. Departments such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Ayurveda, DRDA, and Food Supply will contribute to these displays. Additionally, self-help groups will present local foods and organic products, giving visitors a chance to explore the benefits of traditional and natural diets.
Highlighting Local Flavors
Special stalls will spotlight traditional Himachali dishes made without refined ingredients like sugar and flour. Visitors can enjoy jaggery tea, along with a range of dairy products, including milk, yogurt, and cheese. The event will also educate attendees on incorporating chemical-free, naturally farmed-products into daily life. An exhibition of local fruits and information about their cultivation will further enrich the experience.
Best Chef Competition and Stall Judging
One of the key attractions of the fair will be the Best Chef competition, where participants will prepare dishes live to win recognition. Stalls will also be judged on creativity, presentation, and quality, with prizes awarded to the most innovative and outstanding displays.
Sports, Fun, and Entertainment
In addition to culinary activities, the Eat Right Mela will host a variety of fun and sports events. Activities such as tug-of-war, musical chairs, cycling, quizzes, painting, dancing, slogan writing, and music competitions promise an enjoyable experience for visitors of all ages.
The Eat Right Mela aims to not only celebrate local food culture but also inspire healthier living practices among residents of Una and beyond.
