Una Himachal- Saharanpur MEMU will now go till Haridwar: Anurag Thakur

Giving information today, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Youth and Sports Affairs, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur said that the train running from Una Himachal to Saharanpur will now run till Haridwar.

Shri Anurag Thakur thanked Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnav ji for the above decision and said that this will greatly benefit the people of the area and will increase pilgrimage.

Shri Anurag Thakur said, “Being the representative of Hamirpur parliamentary constituency and Himachal at the Centre, I am always working for the development of this place, and providing better connectivity facilities in Himachal Pradesh is my priority. Haridwar is a major religious place and a large number of people from Himachal go to Haridwar for pilgrimage. I had personally met Railway Minister Shri Ashwani Vaishnav ji and requested such a facility so that travelers from Himachal can go directly to Haridwar by train. I am happy to inform you that the Railway Minister has approved the extension of Una Himachal-Saharanpur MEMU which used to run from Una to Saharanpur. This train will now run from Una to Haridwar, which will provide great transportation facilities to the passengers. I express my gratitude to respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and Railway Minister Shri Ashwani Vaishnav ji for this.”

Shri Anurag Thakur said, “Development is our priority and the Modi government has left no stone unturned in giving gifts to Una. Respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji gifted the country’s fourth Vande Bharat train to Himachal, for the inauguration of which Modi ji himself came to Una. India’s most modern train is now running in Himachal only because of the BJP. To expand the railway services in Himachal Pradesh and ensure that Himachal does not face any problems related to connectivity, the Modi government is working seriously on everything from running new trains to necessary infrastructure development, etc. Rs 1838 crore has been approved for railway expansion in Himachal Pradesh for the financial year 2023-24. Rs 1000 crore for the strategically important Bhanupalli-Bilaspur-Beri railway line, Rs 450 crore for the Chandigarh-Baddi railway line, and Rs 452 crore for the Nangal-Talwara railway line have been approved in the budget for the year 2023-24. This approval of Rs 1838 crore for railway expansion is 17 times more than during the year 2009-2014 during the UPA regime. At present, work is going on in the state on 4 projects worth ₹19556 crore and 258 km long.

Shri Anurag Thakur said, “There was a demand for years in the Gagret assembly of Una district of my parliamentary constituency that approval of 500-meter long double lane on Loharli Khad here, the inauguration of Daulatpur Chowk railway station, electrification of the railway line till Amb railway station and Expansion of foot over bridge, approval of second platform and foot over bridge at Una railway station, expansion of old one, approval of new trains and major trains including Churaru Takrala Ambala Cantt-Daulatpur Chowk passenger special train and Raimehatpur Saharanpur-Una Himachal Passenger Express train. The stoppage is a big gift from the Modi government to the entire Himachal.

Una city was settled by the descendants of Guru Nanak and the 16th generation currently lives here.

The religious places of Dera Baba Rudranand Ji and Baba Balji in the district are recognized by all sections of the society.

Former Prime Minister Vajpayee ji, at the behest of the then Chief Minister Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, announced an industrial package for Himachal, the special benefit of which was the construction of industries in Una district.

District Una is the only district of Himachal connected with the broad gauge railway line. The train reached Una for the first time in the year 1990.

Speaking further, Shri Anurag Thakur said, “From 2014 to March 2019, the work of Amb-Andaura, Chintpurni Marg, and Daulatpur Chowk railway station was completed during the time of the Modi government. Today, a total of 13 trains from Una and Amb Andaura railway stations connect this district to different parts of the country. Sabarmati railway station also runs daily trains from Una. The announcement of the Una Hamirpur rail line was reiterated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the investor meeting organized in Dharamshala in the year 2019. Whereas earlier in the Railway Budget presented in the Lok Sabha from 2014 to 2019, this railway line was considered important from the economic-social point of view thrice and the matter was reiterated for further action in its construction, but this announcement was strengthened when Prime Minister Modi ji Considering the importance of this railway line considering Himachal Pradesh as its second home, it has self-announced and directed the Railway Ministry to complete the pre-construction formalities to boost the economy of the state.

This railway line will increase the revenue of the state by increasing the religious tourism of the state by connecting Maa Jwalamukhi, Maa Chintpurni, Maa Brajeshwari, Maa Chamunda, etc. Whereas the youth working in the Indian Army and Paramilitary forces from districts Hamirpur and Sarkaghat, Dharampur tehsil of district Mandi and Palampur, Baijnath, Jaisinghpur tehsil area of ​​district Kangra, etc. will get the benefit of traveling from the nearest railway station.

Himachal Pradesh government will bear Rs 1500 crore and the Central government will bear Rs 4300 crore for the construction of the Una Hamirpur railway line.

Earlier on February 17, I had approved for the construction of a bridge on the Chakki river, which will soon restore the rail service between Pathankot and Jogindernagar. Along with this, the railway track between Kangra and Nurpur will also be restored soon. For this also I have met the Honorable Railway Minister and got approval.”
