Two Jawan belonging to Himachal among five martyrs of Rajouri encounter

Among five brave hearts who laid down their lives during an encounter with terrorists in Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Friday, two belonged from Palampur of Kangra district and Shilai area of Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. 

 A 25 yrs. old  Para Regiment Jawan Indian Special Force Pramod Negi of Shillai martyred Mr. Pramod joined the “4” Para Regiment in 2017 and was serving in the “Special Force” protecting India for the last two years.  Pramod Negi was part of a search operation team in Kupwara, Jammu, and Kashmir.

 During the search operation, Pramod Negi became a martyr for the country at around 7:30 am.  According to the information, two army soldiers were killed and four soldiers, including an officer, were injured in a blast triggered by terrorists during the ongoing encounter on Friday in the Kandi area of Rajouri district.

 In this, Pramod Negi, the brave son of Devendra Negi, a resident of Giripar ‘Shillai’ village of Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh, has also been martyred.  Pramod Negi’s family has received information through the army.  As soon as the information of martyrdom was received, mourning spread in the family, village, and area.

 Officials of ex-servicemen organization Paonta Sahib and Shillai area told that the entire organization is standing with the martyr’s family in this hour of calamity.  Efforts are being made to collect all the necessary information so that the body can be taken to the native village of the martyr in time.  The entire region is proud of the martyrdom of Paratrooper Pramod Negi.

In the same encounter, Naik Arvind Kumar son of Ujwall Singh of Suri(Chatiala) village  of Post office Marhoon of Palampur subdivision of Kangra district also laid down his life

The other three Jawan are L/Nk Ruchin Singh Rawat  son of Rajendra Singh,  Village- Kunigad  Teh Gairsain, Uttarakhand,  Paratrooper Siddhant Chettri son of Kharka Bahadur

 PO Pulbazar  District – Darjeeling, (WB) and Havaldar Neelam Singh son of Gurdev Singh Village- Dalpat, PO Jourian, Akhnoor District -Jammu (J&K)

 In a statement issued by the army, a defense spokesman said that army columns are carrying out continuous operations to flush out a group of terrorists who ambushed an army truck in the Tota Gali area.  According to intelligence, a joint operation was launched on 03 May 2023 on specific information about the presence of terrorists in the Kandi forest of the Rajouri sector.

 Information has been received that the mortal remains of both martyrs like to reach their native state tomorrow. The mortal remains of the martyr will be cremated with military honors.
