The Year 2023 was a very challenging year for the Shimla Police: Sanjeev Gandhi

Shimla district police force did outstanding jobs during the monsoon furry and it remained stuck to the ground zero till the last minute doing notably well in the last year on two fronts.

Superintendent of Police Shimla Sanjeev Gandhi said that its performance was exceptional in the front of action against Drugs peddlers and road safety.

Taking command of district police forces Sanjeev Gandhi prepared road Safety and Shimla traffic plans for the year 2023..

“One Minute Traffic Plan” to decongest the Shimla Capital City proved exceptionally useful to decongest the city as well as relieved the city of the big jams that Shimla used to face in the summer & winter seasons.

“One Minute Traffic Plan” This initiative to streamline Traffic Jams was “Our Plan of the Year” for the Capital City of Shimla.

During the winter season, this plan received huge appreciation on social media Platforms. During this time 70 thousand students commute daily on roads from KG to University level.

“Apple on Wheel” was a special plan to facilitate the transportation of Apple crops during the Apple Season approx 3 crore boxes were transported. Interestingly Road accidents were reduced by 50% during the Apple Season.

The use of GPS-enabled vehicles in the “Apple Season” Transportation has reduced the theft of vehicles loaded with the Apple Crop, almost by 100 percent as only one matter was reported later on the vehicle was also traced being GPS enabled.

Similarly, this year Shimla Police Registered 424 cases under the ND&PS Act against Drug peddlers, which was a time high in any District of Himachal, and arrested 676 persons which is 37% of the total arrests of the state.

Property worth 2 crores were under investigation for freezing & 135 vehicles were seized further Property of 1.5 crores has been frozen.

During Monsoon rain which was the worst in 2023 including top district cops, the force played a central role in coordinator rescue and rehabilitation operations 24 x7 saving the lives of many people responding in the hard times.

On Christmas and New Year celebrations state police worked tirelessly to manage five lakh tourists rushed to the state in two days on December 30 and 31, he added.
