The three-day state-level Vaman Dwadashi fair was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Sirmaur Sumit Khimta

Deputy Commissioner Sirmaur Sumit Khimta formally inaugurated the three-day state-level Vaman Dwadashi fair starting from today at Sarahan in the Sirmaur district. After performing the formal worship of Lord Vaman Dev, he shouldered the palanquin of Vaman Dev at the temple. A procession was taken out from the Block Development Office to the new bus stand. During the procession, traditional musical groups, Dolanji Math group, NCC cadets of Government Senior Secondary School, Sarahan, Home Guard Band, and thousands of local people participated. Lord Vaman Dev’s palanquin was made boating in the pond located in the middle of the city.
While congratulating the people present at the inauguration of the state-level fair on Vaman Dwadashi fair, the Deputy Commissioner said that this state-level Vaman Dwadashi fair of Sarahan has its own unique identity among the various fairs organized in Sirmaur district. For decades, the entire district has been organizing the Vaman Dwadashi fair with great enthusiasm.
This historical fair, organized on the auspicious occasion of the Vaman incarnation of Lord Vishnu, carries with itself a rich cultural history, in which not only people of the Sarahan-Pachchad region participate but people from every corner of Sirmaur reach this fair.
He said that this fair, along with being associated with the Dev tradition, also has special significance in terms of mutual interaction, sports, and culture.
He said that Sarahan will be filled with sports, and spiritual and cultural activities for the next three days. He said that this fair is also important from an economic point of view. During the fair, trade worth crores of rupees is done and people make huge purchases at this fair.
The Deputy Commissioner inaugurated various sports competitions to be held during the three-day fair. He inaugurated and visited the exhibitions organized by various departments, self-help groups, and local people.
He said that three cultural evenings are being organized during the fair, in which local artists as well as renowned artists will give their best performances. He said that Narendra Neetu, Honey Negi, comedian Pankaj Dogra, Thakur Raghuveer Singh, and Kumar Sahil will be the main artists in today’s cultural evening.
