The government should assess the loss and give appropriate compensation to apple growers: Sandipani
BJP spokesperson Sandipani Bhardwaj attacked the current Congress government by raising the issue of farmers. Bhardwaj said that a few days ago a heavy storm hit Himachal Pradesh due to which 90% of the farmers in Himachal Pradesh have suffered losses, the Himachal Pradesh government should do a full assessment of this loss but till now the Himachal Pradesh government has not even thought about this issue.
He said that whether you talk about apples or the fruits and vegetables of the plains, this storm has caused huge damage to the farmer brothers and sisters of Himachal Pradesh. All the plants were flowering which have fallen in this storm, at many places the branches of the trees have broken and at most places the entire trees have come out along with their roots. The present Congress government should think about this and take immediate action, farmers should also be given proper compensation as per the loss but compensation will be given only when a report is prepared by the government.
Sandipani said that the storm has caused a lot of damage to the apple, pea, wheat and barley crops standing in the fields. People of Mijhali, Ladot, Nirsu area of Rampur have themselves told that ‘flowering in apples has been damaged and fruits have fallen down from the palm trees, along with this other crops have been completely ruined. Wheat and barley crops which were ready for harvesting have been damaged due to strong winds and rain. Pea crop has also been badly affected. He said that these crops were prepared with great hard work, but everything was ruined in one night, now they will have to suffer huge financial loss. The administration should assess the damage and provide proper compensation.
On this occasion, BJP also wants to remind the Congress government about the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. The main crops of the state like wheat, maize, paddy, barley, apple have been included in the “Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana” to compensate for losses caused by natural disasters such as fire, lightning, drought, dry period, flood, water logging, hailstorm, cyclone, storm, landslide, cloudburst, pests and diseases etc. (Central share: State share, 90:10) Apart from this, if the farmer is unable to sow on time due to less rainfall or adverse weather conditions, he will still get insurance cover. Along with this, in this scheme, if the crop kept for drying in the field after harvesting gets damaged due to cyclonic rain, cyclone, hailstorm and unseasonal rain within 14 days, then the compensation will be assessed at the field level itself.
