Technological Knowledge:HP Police inks MoU with IIIT Una 

Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU ) was signed between Himachal Pradesh Police Training College , Daroh and Indian Institute of Information Technology , Una Wednesday at IIIT , Una  as DIG , HPPTC  .  Bimal Gupta, IPS and Director, IIIT, Prof.  S. Selvakumar signed the MoU. On this occasion Mr Gupta says that it would go a long way in facilitating the police personnel to update their knowledge about technological breakthroughs and their use for police personnel in detection and prevention of crime .  The collaboration would be based on research & development activities and training , which will not only involve students and faculty members of the university but also the police officers.   The state police would also organize visits of the students to police training institutes, state forensic science laboratories, and any other specialized unit of police during the internship period.  The IIIT will organize training of police officers on information technology .  Speaking on the occasion, the DIG said that the MoU in the name of Police Information Technology Forum would be helpful in establishing an institutional mechanism between the faculties, researchers and students of IIIT with the police personnel on technical issues in the times to come.  He added that a new revolution has taken place in the world in the name of IT – Revolution connecting people unprecedently .  He said that the revolution has caused people to enjoy as well as suffer in the form of cyber crimes.  Real crimes have resulted from virtual world.  This is a challenge before state governments as well as police department .Keeping in view the non – technological educational background of police personnel in the present scenario , it is difficult for them to handle this challenge .  He further added that the collaboration would help police personnel to develop skills to understand, detect and prevent cyber crimes to the extent possible.  The MoU would prove an effective medium of institutional communication between Himachal Pradesh Police Training College and students, faculties & researchers of Indian Institute of Information Technology.
