State wide Protest against policies of Govt
Under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Manch, various organizations of farmers and gardeners held demonstration against the policies of the government in the state on Wednesday. Various organisations of Farmers hold demonstrations at Rohru, Theog, Kotkhai, Narkanda, Rampur, Nirmand, Ani, Kinnaur, Mandi and other districts of Shimla. Farmers are agitating against the policies of the state government increasing cost of apple boxes by leving tax on the gardeners who are not getting the proper price for their produce. They are demanding waive the increased GST on cartons (from 12 per cent to 18 per cent).The forum has been repeatedly giving memorandums to the government for the demands of farmers and gardeners over the years. But the government is not paying any attention to them and is not even ready to talk to the gardeners. Subsidy should be given on fertilizers, fungicides, insecticides, cartons, trays and other cost items. They also demanded to start Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) on the lines of Kashmir and provide minimum sports price Rs 60 for A grade apples, Rs 44 for B grade and Rs 24 for C grade. Early release of pending payment of the apple growers bought under MIS by HPMC and Himfed immediately.Strictly implement the APMC law in the state.All the organizations have called together that if the government does not immediately implement the demands of the farmers, then this movement would continue. Sanjay Chauhan & Harish Chauhan co coordinator protest said that they would gherao the state secteriat on August 5 if they don’t consider their demands.
