St. Edward’s School Celebrates the Dawn of Its Centenary with Alumni Reunion and Grand Festivities

The three-day centenary celebrations of St. Edward’s School, Shimla—a beacon of academic excellence and holistic education—commenced on a vibrant note with the flagging off of an anti-drug awareness campaign titled ‘Kill the Urge for Drugs through Yoga’ from the historic Ridge Ground here on Saturday.

Marking a century of legacy, learning and leadership, the occasion witnessed an emotional homecoming as alumni from across generations returned to their alma mater to celebrate 100 glorious years of Edwardian excellence. The event reflected the deep bond, pride and enduring spirit that unite the Edwardian fraternity.

The morning programme at the school grounds began with a spirited March Past by ex-Edwardians and current students, followed by thrilling track events and exhibition matches in cricket, basketball and football. The unveiling of the Centenary Trophies and the prize distribution ceremony celebrated a century of sporting brilliance and brotherhood.

The evening programme beautifully blended culture, emotion and nostalgia. The celebration began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising enlightenment and continuity. Alumnus Dr. Gagandeep Hothi, a disciple of Padma Bhushan Pt. Budhaditya Mukherjee, captivated the audience with a soul-stirring sitar performance.

The event also featured the release of books authored by students and teachers and  the felicitation of CBSE Class XII toppers. The books -‘ The 100 year Tapestry Volumes 1 and 2  were unveiled by Bishop Ignatius Mascarenhas .The day culminated with a stunning art installation, representing the timeless spirit, faith and legacy of St. Edward’s School.

The school, which has nurtured eminent personalities such as former Vice President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari, India’s first Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, President of the World Bank Ajay Banga and Supreme Court Judge Justice Sanjay Karol, continues to uphold its vision of excellence and service to the nation.
