Sports activities will be organized in District Shimla on National Sports Day
Many programs are being organized in District Shimla to promote sports spirit, physical fitness and environment awareness on the occasion of National Sports Day. The District Sports Council and the Youth Services and Sports Department will host various activities related to sports competitions, community running and environmental campaigns, including participants of all ages. This information was given by District Youth Service and Sports Officer Shimla Rakesh Dhota.
Cleanliness and tree plantation drive will be conducted in Nerwa (Chaupal), Rampur and Rohdu on 27 and 28 August 2024 in the main event in Shimla district. These initiatives aim to raise awareness about environmental sustainability and community responsibility. Additionally, Kabaddi, Musical Chair and Tug Competitions will be held on August 29, 2024 at College Ground Nerwa to encourage community participation and foster a spirit of teamwork.
Exciting matches will be seen in volleyball and musical chair at State Senior Secondary School Kaloti, Chidgaon city, as well as cleaning and plantation will continue. People will participate in volleyball, kabaddi, basketball and tug at Thiyog’s college ground and the program will conclude with a community gathering.
He said the main attraction of these activities will be the 8-kilometer community race in Shimla city, which participants from all classes can participate. The race will start from Ridge Ground to Summer Hill on August 29, 2024 at 7am and end at Indira Gandhi State Sports Complex Mall Shimla.
He said the winners will be awarded prizes and refreshments to all participants to encourage maximum participation and celebrate the spirit of National Sports Day.
