SJVN is playing with the interests of the people affected by the Luhari Hydro Project : Kuldeep Rathore

All India Congress Committee spokesperson and MLA from Theog Kuldeep Singh Rathore has accused the Satluj Hydroelectric Project, SJVN of playing with the interests of the people affected by the Luhari Hydroelectric Project. He said that although it is a government undertaking, its functioning is like that of big moneylenders Ambani and Adani where no voice of the people is being heard.
In a press conference here today, Kuldeep Singh Rathore said that a review meeting was held with the officials of SJVN under the chairmanship of Shimla Deputy Commissioner last day. In the meeting, he raised the problems of the people affected by this project before the officials and demanded their resolution. He said that he had also raised this issue in the state assembly. He alleged that SJVN has spent the CSR money which was to be spent on the development of this area in other districts. He said that the environment is also being damaged a lot due to mining here. He said that he had already demanded a re-survey of this project. He said that this project is having adverse effects on many panchayats of Rampur and Theog assembly constituencies. Dumping is also not being done properly. Apple and other crops are also being affected here. He said that the affected families have not received any compensation yet.
Rathore said that SJVL is not working according to its agreement. He said that the agreement clearly stated that local youth will be given employment, which has not been fulfilled. He said that recently more than 400 workers have been thrown out of the project. He said that the Congress government will not tolerate injustice from anyone. He has demanded from SJVL that they will have to fulfill their agreement and fully protect the interests of the affected families.
