Six decade old dispensary may be closed due to lack of staff
The Ayurvedic dispensary working in Peeran Panchayat since 1962 is on the verge of closure due to lack of staff. This dispensary is being run by a fourth class employee. Let us tell you that about four months ago, the government has transferred the doctor working in this dispensary to Bilaspur. The post of pharmacist has been lying vacant for the last three years. Similarly, the post of trained midwife has not been filled by the government for about three decades. In the 70s, four employees including the doctor used to work in this Ayurvedic dispensary.
It should be noted that the present government has started the process of closing down the Ayurvedic institutions running without staff. Recently, a notification has been issued to denotify 56 Ayurvedic institutions. Which has been stopped by the government for the time being. The people of Peeran Panchayat are also afraid that the dispensary may also be closed due to lack of staff. Let us tell you that in the past, apart from Peeran Panchayat, people from Satlai, Balog and Kotla Bangi Panchayat of Sirmaur bordering this dispensary used to come for treatment.
Many people including former Pradhan Dayaram Verma and Atar Singh Thakur, Daulat Ram Mehta, former Pradhan Kamlesh Thakur of Peeran Panchayat have appealed to the government to fill the posts of doctor and pharmacist in this dispensary so that people can get the facility of treatment through this dispensary. They say that if this Ayurvedic dispensary is closed due to lack of staff, then the people of Peeran Panchayat will not hesitate to protest. Dispensary employee Kamal Verma said that on an average about 250 patients visit OPD in this dispensary in a month.
District Ayurveda Officer Dr. Ashvin Sharma said that the matter of filling the post of doctor has been raised with the higher authorities and at present the government has no intention of closing this dispensary.
