Shoolini University Booked After Student’s Tragic Death

A tragic incident has shaken Solan after police booked Shoolini University for abetment to suicide following the death of a 21-year-old MBA student, Nitin Chauhan. The young student, a resident of Sheel village in Rohru tehsil, Shimla, was found dead in his rented apartment in Madhuban Colony on March 28.

According to Solan SP Sai Dattatreya Varma, investigators recovered a mobile phone, diary, rope, and a suicide note from the spot. In the note, Nitin wrote that he was unhappy with his life.

Further inquiry revealed that Nitin had grown deeply distressed after being placed through campus recruitment in a Dehradun-based company that allegedly paid him only half of the promised salary. When he raised concerns, student organisations claim he was referred back to the university’s placement cell, which failed to resolve the issue.

The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) has accused the university of neglect, alleging that faculty members offered no support and that the administration failed to deliver on its 100% placement guarantee. Dissatisfaction among students has reportedly been growing over unmet promises.

The incident has sparked outrage and raised troubling questions about accountability in campus placements, student welfare, and the pressures young graduates face when promises of secure futures fall short.
