Shimla Police Nab Mastermind Behind Kidnap Attempt on CM’s Adviser’s Son

Swift action by Shimla police has led to the arrest of Manish Verma, alias Manu (46), the alleged mastermind behind the attempted kidnapping and robbery of Aaryan Chauhan, son of Naresh Chauhan, Media Adviser to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

The incident occurred on March 20, when Aaryan was confronted near Tarapur village by armed men in a car. He managed to escape by jumping out of his vehicle, forcing the attackers to flee. Police later seized the abandoned car and arrested two accomplices, Tashi Negi of Narkanda and Charanjeet Singh of Sanjauli, on March 23.

Investigations revealed that Manu had been closely monitoring Aaryan’s movements before plotting the crime. A known history-sheeter, Manu has multiple cases against him, including drug possession, timber theft, and kidnapping. Police recovered 10 cartridges from his possession and confirmed that interrogation is ongoing.

Authorities say the arrest marks a significant breakthrough, ensuring justice and safety while exposing the criminal network behind the attempted attack.
