Shimla Flying Festival to be held in Junga from 16 to 19 October
A meeting was held to discuss preparations for the second phase of the Shimla Flying Festival & Hospitality Expo, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Anupam Kashyap. The Flying Festival will take place in Junga from October 16 to 19, 2024.
The Deputy Commissioner noted that this is the second time the competition is being held in Junga, attracting participants from around the world.
He instructed all concerned officials to coordinate to ensure the convenience of participants and tourists from both domestic and international locations. Necessary instructions were given to the police department for smooth arrangements of law and order, traffic operations, and parking. The Public Works Department was ordered to repair roads in the area, and the electricity department was tasked with ensuring an uninterrupted power supply.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of having all arrangements ready while following protocols during the festival. He also instructed the deployment of SDRF and firefighters to handle any emergencies promptly.
The festival will feature a Battle of the Bands, with talented bands from across the region competing. A cultural program will be organized daily to entertain attendees, showcasing local and district culture. The Hospitality Expo will host about 60 exhibitors, and seminars and group discussions on various tourism and hospitality topics will also be held.
Director of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Avinash Negi, joined the meeting via video conference. The Deputy Commissioner requested technical assistance for the flying festival from him.
