Shad’s Law College organises workshop on drug abuse
A two-day workshop on the serious issue of drug abuse was organized at Shadz Law College, Chambaghat, courtesy of the Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti. Teachers and students were interacted with on this serious issue. HGVS State Secretary Satyawan Pundir, Joint Secretaries Sitaram Thakur, Urmil Thakur, Sudesh Thakur, and psychologist Dr. Ravi Bhushan participated in the workshop. The workshop’s objective was to understand the growing threat of drug abuse and discuss its social, educational, and health-related impacts.
On this occasion, Satyavan Pundir shared detailed information on drug abuse prevention, its causes, and its adverse effects. Teachers and students also shared their thoughts and experiences, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to combat this social problem.
The workshop also discussed a framework for conducting a community-based study on drug abuse. This study will seek to understand the impact, causes, and practical aspects of drug abuse in society.
On the second day of the workshop, the Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti initiated a household survey at the same law college. Urmil Thakur, Sudesh Thakur, Dr. Rajiv Agarwal, and the team from the Himachal Law College were actively involved in this survey.
He explained that the survey will initially be conducted over three days in various villages within the Chambaghat and Basal Panchayats of Solan. Currently, the survey is being conducted in municipal corporation areas, and in future phases, it will be expanded to various panchayats across Solan district. For this survey, 30 groups of approximately 150 college students will be formed and will conduct door-to-door discussions with parents and community members over three days.
