School children should open their accounts in post offices with zero balance: Sandeep Dharmani
Students studying in educational institutions can open their accounts in post offices with zero balance so that the amount given to the students by the government under various schemes can be easily withdrawn. This information was given by Superintendent Post Office Division Solan Sandeep Dharmani while addressing the students in a camp organized under the Postal Community Development Program at Government Senior Secondary School Peeran on Thursday. He urged the teachers to open bank accounts of all the children of the school in the post office so that the transaction of money for scholarship, uniform etc. received from the government can be done through the post office. He advised to update the Aadhar cards of school children from time to time and told that Aadhar cards are made free of cost till the age of 15 years.
Sandeep Dharmani said that with the availability of post office facilities at rural level, people are now getting banking services at their doorstep through post office. He told that post office is providing the highest interest on deposits to its customers as compared to nationalized and other banks. Apart from this, post office is soon going to provide loan facility to the people. He told that Sukanya Samridhi Yojana being run by post office is becoming most popular in the entire country, in which accounts of 85 percent girls of the state have been opened under this scheme.
Assistant Superintendent Post Office, Ishwar Das gave detailed information to the students about Post Office Savings Bank schemes. While DO PLI Shakun Sharma threw light on PLI and RPLI, Executive Manager IPPB on Post Office Banking services. Rajesh Kumar gave information to the people about making Aadhar Card and rectifying errors.
Acting Principal Devinda Chauhan expressed her gratitude to the officials of the Post Office Department for organizing the camp in the school. All the staff members and children of the school participated in the camp.
