BJP did not give money in disaster to Himachal, but used it to buy MLA: Sukhu
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that BJP did not give money to Himachal Pradesh in the disaster, but spent crores of rupees to buy six Congress and three independent MLAs. On the lines of Bhuj and Uttarakhand, Himachal should also have got a special relief package. Many facts regarding how many crores of rupees BJP has given to nine MLAs have come to the government in the police investigation. Soon the faces of many masked people will be exposed. The Chief Minister said these things while addressing an election rally in Devidehra of Dalhousie Assembly constituency.
The Chief Minister had come here to appeal for votes for Kangra-Chamba parliamentary constituency candidate Anand Sharma. He said that the entire Bharatiya Janata Party continued doing politics during the disaster. The Prime Minister and the Home Minister as well as the BJP MPs did not stand with the disaster affected people. Not a single rupee was given to Himachal in the name of relief, even though 551 people had died and 22 thousand families were rendered homeless. A special relief package was sought after meeting the Prime Minister, Home Minister and central leaders, but no one was pleased. BJP MLAs from Himachal opposed the proposal to declare a national disaster in the Assembly.
The Chief Minister said that our government has rehabilitated the affected families by giving a package of Rs 4500 crore. BJP leaders should tell the public that they have money to buy MLAs, but why not to give it to the disaster affected. The public has seen the real face of BJP during the disaster. The mothers, sisters and employees of Himachal Pradesh have also recognized the behavior and character of the BJP, because the BJP did the work of stopping the pension of Rs 1500 for women above 18 years of age during the Lok Sabha elections. Despite this, every woman in Lahaul Spiti has received pension. 2.37 lakh women used to take monthly social security pension of Rs 1150, now they have started getting Rs 1500. Those women whose pension has been stopped by BJP, will also get Rs 3000 for April and May after June 6.
Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that BJP continued to oppose giving benefits of Old Pension Scheme to the employees. It is still after the employees and is withholding Rs 9000 crore of OPS contribution received from the Centre. The state leadership of BJP and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur is also behind imposing economic sanctions on the state government. As Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition, Jairam has considered personal interests paramount rather than the interests of the state. It is because of them that Himachal did not get the special relief package from the Central Government. NPS contribution has also been stopped due to Jayaram. It is because of them that all the eligible women are not getting even Rs 1500 pension.
The Chief Minister said that BJP considers money power as power, not manpower. This is the reason why people tried to topple the elected government on the basis of money. But, the public knows that the goods sold will not last long, hence manpower will defeat money power. Congress does not have money, it is people’s power and we are fighting this election with the help of manpower only. He said that Anand Sharma has contributed a lot in the development of Kangra and Chamba. While being a minister at the Centre, he has brought big institutions in the entire Himachal Pradesh. Therefore, elect him and send him to Parliament, he will become the voice of Himachal and will write a new story of development along with stopping the Agniveer scheme. During this, Speaker Kuldeep Pathania, Lok Sabha candidate Anand Sharma, former Education Minister Asha Kumari etc. were present.
