During this, National President Dr. Sunil Panwar, National Incharge Dr. Sanjay and State Coordinator Sachin Mirupa, by spinning the charkha, expressed their commitment towards truth, non-violence and democratic values of Mahatma Gandhi and gave the message of protecting democracy.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Sunil Panwar said that the impartiality of the country’s democratic institutions is constantly being questioned. The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have established influence over several constitutional institutions, compromising their independence and impartiality. He specifically questioned the functioning of the Election Commission, stating that maintaining public trust is the Commission’s primary responsibility.
Dr. Panwar said that the recent incident in Madhya Pradesh where the nomination papers of senior Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan were rejected by election officials also raised serious questions about the transparency and fairness of the electoral process. He said that the Congress party believes that in such cases, every candidate should be given a fair and just opportunity, and the election process should be completely transparent and free from bias.
He alleged that efforts are being made to suppress the voice of the opposition by misusing investigative agencies and that the autonomy of democratic institutions is being steadily undermined. He said that the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Organization will take the campaign to protect democracy and the Constitution, led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, to every village and every home across the country.
Dr. Panwar appealed to the countrymen to come forward unitedly to protect democracy, the Constitution and constitutional institutions by following the path of truth, non-violence and constitutional values of Mahatma Gandhi.
