Samples of 50 Drugs Made in Himachal, Including BP and Ulcer Medications, Fail Quality Tests
A total of 167 drugs from across the country, including 50 manufactured in Himachal Pradesh, have been found to be substandard. Within Himachal, samples from 37 companies in Solan district, 11 in Sirmaur, and one each in Una and Kangra districts failed the quality checks. The failed samples include medications for bacterial infections, high blood pressure (BP), ulcers, preventing blood clots during injury, blood thinning, and reducing stomach acid, among others.
Out of 93 samples that failed tests nationwide at state laboratories, 31 were from Himachal. Separately, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) reported 74 failed samples from across India, which included 19 from Himachal.
Specific companies from Himachal whose samples failed include: Theon Pharma (4 samples), Maya Biotech and G Laboratories (3 each), Crust Life Science, Martin & Brown, Allop Medi Science, Hiller Labs, and Ultra Trek (2 each).
The list of failed samples includes:

· A high BP drug by Senrus Global, Jhajramajri.
· An allergy drug by Ultra Drug, Manpura.
· A BP drug by Archid Medi Science, Thana.
· An infection drug by MG Biotech, Paonta Sahib.
· An antibiotic by GL Healthcare, Parwanoo.
· An arthritis pain drug by YL Pharma, Baddi.
· Allergy and high BP drugs by Theon Pharma, Nalagarh.
· A high BP drug by Swiss Company, Una.
Other failed samples comprise:
· A fungal infection drug by Hygeia Home & Personal Care, Parwanoo.
· Cholesterol drugs by Innova Captab, Baddi and CMG Company, Sansarpur Terrace (Kangra).
· Antibiotics (including Omxicillin) by Alex Company, Baddi and Hiller Labs.
· Two samples of an asthma drug by Allop Medi Science, Shamti (Solan).
· Cough medications (for phlegm, dry cough, etc.) by Ultra Drug (Manpura), Bephin Biotech (Paonta Sahib), Apollo Medi Science (Shamti), and Navkar Company (Solan).
· A nerve pain drug by Vrindavan Global, Lodhi Majra and an Amoxicillin (infection) drug from Subathu.
· A vomiting drug by Pharma Chemical Laboratory, Dehonghat (Solan).
· Bacterial infection drugs by Digital Vision, Kala Amb and Sunwave Company, Paonta Sahib.
· An ulcer drug by Samprakar Biotech, Lodhi Majra.
· Acidity drugs (Rabeprazole) by Tork Company, Jhajramajri and Martin & Brown Company.
· A BP drug by Benit Pharmaceutical, Manpura.
· An anesthetic drug by Wellcare Remedies, Kala Amb.
· An acidity drug by Athen Life Science.
· A fever drug (Paracetamol) by Orison Lab, Kala Amb.
· A Calcium & Vitamin drug by Hiller Labs.
· A BP drug by Pharma Root, Barotiwala.
· A chest pain drug by G Laboratories, Paonta Sahib.
· A deworming drug by AP Peratial Company, Gullarwala.
· Two infection drug samples by G Laboratories, Paonta Sahib.
· An ulcer drug by Morvelan Pharmaceutical, Barotiwala.
· A blood clot drug by Martin & Brown Company.
· Two samples of the blood clot drug Clopidogrel by Theon Pharma, Nalagarh.
Action to be Taken:
Authorities have stated that action will be initiated against the concerned drug companies under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Existing stock will be recalled from the market. The drug control department will also conduct its own sampling and testing of these companies’ products. Notices are being issued to all the implicated firms.
