Rs. 6.40 lakh penalty imposed on illegal transportation of goods by State Taxes and Excise Dept
A spokesperson of the Department of State Taxes and Excise informed here today that the department conducted a special campaign for checking the Volvo buses during the last ten days. There had been complaints of Volvo buses causing loss of revenue by illegally transporting goods into the State.
The transportation of goods without invoice or without e-way bill leads to revenue loss as such transactions are not accounted for by businesses.
He said that the department conducted a checking of 229 Volvo buses and imposed a penalty amounting to Rs 6.40 Lakh on illegal transportation of goods in violation of the provisions of GST law in the last ten days.
The department has warned people carrying the goods illegally in violation of the provisions of GST Law to refrain from the practice. The department plans to take exemplary action against the people found violating the provisions of GST law repeatedly and will continue the campaign against tax evaders and take stern action against them.
