Ridge becomes trade center for local products
Business worth over Rs 30 lakh in three days, over 50 factory outlet stalls became the attraction
Shimla’s historic Ridge emerged as a vibrant trade hub for local products during the Him MSME Fest-2026. Businesses worth over ₹30 lakh were recorded during the three days of the festival, reflecting the growing consumer confidence in the state’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Over 50 stalls were set up at the event, including, for the first time, factory outlet stalls. These stalls offered consumers products from renowned and trusted brands at factory-direct rates, well below market prices. This initiative provided the public with access to quality goods at affordable prices, while also providing local entrepreneurs with an effective platform for direct marketing of their products.
The festival featured stalls covering a variety of categories, including handlooms, leather products, food items, and wood products. Tourists from both India and abroad shopped enthusiastically at these stalls, providing widespread recognition and a new market for Himachal Pradesh’s local products. Embodying the concept of “local to global,” the event provided direct consumer contact to local artisans, entrepreneurs, and producers.
This initiative to promote local products of Himachal Pradesh was openly appreciated by consumers, tourists and entrepreneurs and this innovative initiative of the Industries Department was described as very useful for the MSME sector.
On this occasion, Dr. Yunus, Director of the Industries Department, congratulated all the entrepreneurs, participants, and officials associated with the event on the resounding success of the Him MSME Fest-2026. He said that such events not only provide a strong market for local products, but also boost the state’s economy, creating employment, and fostering entrepreneurship development.
