Remembering Virbhadra Singh on his fifth death anniversary
State Congress President Vinay Kumar said that the achievements of the late Virbhadra Singh, six-time Chief Minister of the state, cannot be counted in numbers. It is because of his numerous achievements that the state is known today as modern Himachal.
Remembering Virbhadra Singh on his fifth death anniversary at the state Congress headquarters, Rajiv Bhawan, Vinay Kumar said that Virbhadra Singh lived in the hearts of the people. His love and personality connected him to their hearts. He said that such a personality is born only once in a while. He said that no one who approached him with a complaint ever returned empty-handed. His remarkable contribution to the state’s development will always be remembered. Continuing on the path he showed will be our true tribute to him.
Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said that while the state’s first Chief Minister, Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar, can never be forgotten in the creation of the state, Virbhadra Singh will always be remembered as the architect of modern Himachal. He said that in the new construction of the state, all the Congress leaders, from former Chief Minister late Thakur Ram Lal to former Minister late Jai Bihari Lal Khachi, senior Congress leader and former Minister Mrs. Vidya Stocks, have made significant contributions to the state’s development. He said that we must follow the path shown by all these leaders and work for the unity and integrity of the country and the state.
Earlier, Shimla Urban MLA Harish Janartha said that he entered politics under the guidance of Virbhadra Singh. His leadership, guidance, his vision for development, his understanding of the suffering of the poor and the path he showed to alleviate it still pave his way.
Shimla Municipal Corporation Mayor Surendra Chauhan said that Virbhadra Singh was an institution in itself, capable of taking everyone along. He was strongly opposed to tampering with the archaeology of the historic city of Shimla for its development. He said that his contribution to the state’s development is incalculable and beyond calculation. Today, on his death anniversary, we should pledge to follow the path he showed.
Before this, everyone present in the meeting observed two minutes silence and prayed to God for the peace of the soul of Virbhadra Singh.
On this occasion, Lahaul Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana, Chief Minister’s IT advisor Gokul Butail, Congress Vice President Amit Nanda, Organization General Secretary Vinod Zinta, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, Mahila Congress President Zainab Chandel, Youth Congress President Chhatar Singh, Sonia Chauhan, Shimla District Rural President Harikrishna Himral, Urban President Indrajit Singh, Amit Bharmauri, all councilors, senior Congress leaders Vineet Gautam, Devendra Bushhari, Yashpal Tanaiak, SK Sehgal, Vikas Kalta, Pradeep Surya along with office bearers and workers of Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, Seva Dal, NSUI, Scheduled Caste Department and Kisan Congress paid their respects to the photograph of late Virbhadra Singh.
