Rajni Patil Sounds Poll Bugle in Himachal, Calls for Stronger Congress Ground Connect

With the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections now on the horizon, the Congress has begun sharpening its organizational machinery across the state. During her visit to Shimla, AICC Himachal affairs in-charge Rajni Patil emphasized the need for stronger grassroots engagement, greater accountability among party office-bearers, and closer coordination between the organization and the state government.

Addressing the media at Rajiv Bhawan, Patil said the party has reviewed the performance of PCC leaders, district presidents, media teams, and frontal organizations over the past two days. She stressed that leaders who are unable to devote sufficient time to organizational responsibilities should make way for energetic and active workers. District in-charges have also been directed to regularly visit their assigned districts and strengthen the party’s presence at the grassroots level.

Highlighting the importance of youth engagement, Patil said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s nationwide initiatives, including Yuva Samvad and Chhatron Ki Goonj, are receiving encouraging support from young people and students. She noted that similar outreach efforts are underway in Himachal Pradesh, where party leaders are interacting with students and raising awareness about issues affecting their future, including the growing concern over examination paper leaks.

Patil also launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led central government and the Election Commission, alleging irregularities in the electoral process and questioning the Commission’s impartiality. She said the Congress would continue taking these concerns to the people and announced statewide protests across Himachal on September 28.

The Congress leader further criticized the proposed levy on UPI and online transactions, arguing that such measures would place an additional burden on ordinary citizens. She said the move contradicts the government’s push for Digital India and digital payments.

As political activity begins to intensify ahead of the next Assembly elections, Patil’s message was clear: the Congress wants its leaders and workers in Himachal firmly on the ground, connected with people, and ready for the electoral battle ahead.
