Rain to Ease in Himachal, But Caution Still Advised as Skies Stay Cloudy

After days of relentless downpours, Himachal Pradesh finally gets a breather from heavy rainfall. The Meteorological Department has confirmed that the intense rain activity that persisted until September 3 has now subsided. While this brings much-needed relief, it doesn’t mean the skies will be completely clear.

From September 4 to 9, most parts of the state will remain under cloudy conditions, with intermittent light to moderate showers expected.

Where Will It Rain, and Where Will It Stay Dry?

According to the Shimla Meteorological Centre, districts like Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Solan, Shimla, and Bilaspur will continue to see scattered rainfall over the next few days. Occasional heavy showers may occur, but the threat of widespread heavy rain is now behind us.

In contrast, upper Himachal regions such as Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti will experience relatively dry weather, with only isolated light rain. Lower districts like Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, and Solan may see partly cloudy skies and light rain at intervals.

Relief After Days of Disruption

The recent spell of heavy rain had caused significant disruptions across the state, especially in Mandi, Kangra, and Kullu, where landslides and road blockages were reported. With the intensity now reduced, the situation is improving. However, light to moderate rain may still lead to minor landslides and muddy roads, so caution remains essential.

Cloudy Skies to Persist Until September 9

The weather department predicts that cloud cover will dominate until September 9, with occasional sunshine breaking through. While this rain may benefit farmers, it could also impact tourism activities, especially in hill stations.

Weather Advisory for Citizens

The Meteorological Department has urged residents and travelers to remain cautious, especially when navigating hilly terrain. People are advised to avoid going near rivers and streams, as sudden changes in weather can still pose risks.

In summary, while the threat of heavy rain has passed, Himachal Pradesh will continue to experience light to moderate showers and cloudy skies through the week. Farmers may find some relief, but tourists and locals alike should stay alert—because in the mountains, weather can change in the blink of an eye.
