Prolonged dryspell & extreme heatwave damage Off-season vegitable

Prolonged dryspell and extreme heat wave condition damaging offseason vegitable and Rabi crops as it is wiltted and overripe a month ago, Met Office issued advisory to milk producers and farmers how to avert the damage being caused.Shimls Met Office incharge Surinder Paul said in a press statement issued here today that to maintain the good health and constant yields of milk farmers expected that proper ventilation system should be maintained in sheds. He said that Vegetable nursery and crop may be thatched with grass and ploy sheet. Ensure drainage in the vegetable fields. New plantings may be thatched with grass and poly sheets to avoid direct influence of thunderstorm or lightning. State harvest season start in the end of April and early May likely to be affected by the draught condition in most of district. Heatwave triggering fire in the pine forest which is causing high pollution levels. Sudden spurts in the vehicular traffic also caused dust in the airs reducing airquality drastically. In unmattlted and Kucha road the condition was alarming. In Shimla Mandi and Kullu yellow alert of looh have been sounded in some packets. The dry spell also possing threat of heavy june drops in stone and pome fruits like appricot, Peeach, Plum, Almond, Mango, Pear and Apple crops. Agriculture experts are issuing advisory to farmers to apply mulching to plant beds as it would retain moisture level in the soil.It is high time of Shima Mirch (capisicum) Tomato and other summer off season sawing likely to be affect or leading to low sawing in the dry spell and inclement heatwave condition.The Met Office forecast rain and thunder storms in mid and high reaches in tomorrow onwards at isolated and few places.
