Professor Kapil Kapoor honored with the Padma Bhushan

 Professor Kapil Kapoor, former president of the society and the governing body of the Indian Institute of Higher Studies Shimla, was announced to be honored with the Padma Bhushan in the Padma Awards announced on the occasion of Republic Day this year. In a press release issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, on the eve of Republic Day, it was informed that in view of the contribution of Professor Kapil Kapoor, former Chairman of the Governing Body of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study in the field of literature and education, he has been awarded the third highest award of India. Will be awarded the civilian honor Padma Bhushan. Professor Kapil Kapoor was congratulated on this occasion by Professor Shashi Prabha Kumar, the present Chairperson of the Institute and Director Professor Nageswara Rao and described it as a proud moment for the Institute.

Apart from the President of the Indian Institute of Higher Studies, Professor Kapil Kapoor has also been the former Chancellor of the Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha. He is considered a great thinker of Indian and Western literature and linguistic theory, philosophy of language, nineteenth century British life, literature and thought, and Indian knowledge tradition. He has also edited one to 11 volumes of “Encyclopedia of Hinduism”.
