President Murmu’s Visit to Himachal from May 5 to May 9
President of India Droupadi Murmu is all set to embark on an exciting visit to Himachal Pradesh from May 5 to May 9. Her itinerary is packed with fascinating stops, including a visit to the picturesque Shimla, the engineering marvel Atal Tunnel in Lahaul, and the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi, where she will be the chief guest at a special event celebrating the institution’s 15th anniversary.
Preparations are in full swing for this high-profile visit, with the state government working closely with the President’s office to finalize her detailed program. During her stay in Shimla, President Murmu is also expected to attend a grand banquet hosted by the Governor at the Raj Bhavan.
One of the highlights of her visit will be her participation in the 15-year achievement celebration of IIT Mandi on May 6 and 7. The institute has extended a formal invitation to her, and the program is being meticulously planned.
In addition to her academic engagements, President Murmu will explore the Atal Tunnel, a strategic and engineering wonder in the Lahaul-Spiti region, as part of her travel itinerary.
To ensure everything runs smoothly, Deputy Army Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and senior officers from the Union Defence Ministry have already arrived in Shimla. They inspected the President’s retreat at Chharabra and met with the Governor at Raj Bhavan to review the arrangements.
With security and protocol measures being tightened, administrative departments have been directed to stay on high alert throughout the President’s multi-location visit.
