People of Devbhoomi never support dishonest people: Sukhu
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the people of Devbhoomi Himachal never support dishonest people. Himachal is the land of Gods and Goddesses, the people here are honest. The present election will decide whether honesty should win and dishonesty should lose. Six former Congress MLAs and three independent MLAs have sold themselves in the political market of BJP, hence the public will teach them a lesson. This election is not about saving the Chief Minister’s chair or the government, but about saving democracy. The public vote on June 1 will decide whether the strength of democracy is people power or money power. The Chief Minister said these things while appealing to vote for Lok Sabha candidate Vinod Sultanpuri in Kupvi of Chaupal Assembly constituency.
He said that this is not an ordinary election. This election will decide the condition and direction of future politics. On June 1, a message should be sent from Himachal to the entire country against those doing money-power politics. People’s power should prevail over demonetization. If Himachal Pradesh can show direction to the entire country to save democracy then the time of June 1 is absolutely right. If the government sitting in Delhi buys the MLAs elected by public vote on the basis of currency notes then what is the value of the vote? Buying elected MLAs is playing with public sentiments. This choice is between truth and falsehood. Lies collide with truth again and again, but in the end truth wins. At this time the question is not about any party, but about teaching a lesson to those who have played with the sentiments of the people. Governments will come and go, this time those who buy votes with notes have to be taught a lesson.
He said that Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur is power hungry and is also against the employees and women of the state. When the employees asked for OPS, they were lathicharged and water cannons were fired. Employees were asked to contest the elections and when the Congress government gave the old pension, they reached Delhi to stop the NPS contribution of Rs 9000 crore of the government and the employees. The Central Government has reduced the loan limit of Himachal Government for giving OPS and is not even giving the amount of NPS contribution. Now, before the implementation of the code of conduct, when the government implemented the scheme of giving a pension of Rs 1500 per month to daughters and women above 18 years of age, Jairam Thakur approached the Election Commission to stop it.
The Chief Minister said that BJP and Jairam cannot withhold Rs 1500 from women. The government has sought permission from the Election Commission to release a pension of Rs 1500 for the month of April. If the Commission does not give permission due to pressure from the BJP, then in the month of June, women will be given a lump sum of Rs 3000 for the months of April and May.
Thakur Sukhwinder Singh said that Vinod Sultanpuri is educated, making him an MP. He understands your pain and suffering. The tenure of the government is three and a half years left, there will be no shortage of development work in Kupvi. At the end of June, he will come to Kupvi for one day and one night and will fulfill all the demands of the people here. BJP MPs neither stood with the people in the disaster nor raised their demands in Parliament. He could not even muster enough courage to write a letter to the country’s Prime Minister and Home Minister asking for a special relief package to deal with the disaster.
The Chief Minister said that the Congress government shared the pain and suffering of the people in the disaster and rehabilitated 22 thousands of affected families. Despite the economic crisis, a package of Rs 4500 crore was given. The government brought Sukh Ashray Yojana for orphan children, going to provide free education to the children of widow women till the age of 27 years. Complete treatment for elderly people above 70 years of age is being provided free of cost. Himachal is the first state to give MSP on milk. Many schemes have been brought for farmers and gardeners. The daily wage of MNREGA workers was increased by Rs 60, which is the highest in history to date. BJP and Jairam are not like public welfare work, hence a conspiracy was hatched to topple the government. During this, Congress General Secretary Organization Rajneesh Kimta, etc. were present.
