Patients facing hardship while taking OPD service at IGMC 

The Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital is currently facing a sudden spurt of patients to take outdoor department services as some of the patients  are toiling hard to get their turn and some of them were returning from the Hospital without getting proper treatment . A letter written to press correspondents by the Himachal Pradesh High Court staff said patients who gathered at IGMC Hospital for treatment were left to die and doctors are not attending their duties as per the time tables and also as per guidelines given by the  state Government from time to  time. Patients complain that this was not his solitary experience in this hospital but on so many occasions, it happened earlier too. The staff stressed the need to maintain proper decorum at IGMC Hospital to avoid any such inconvenience being caused by the general public and patients. The patient said that on May 21,, he visited the IGMC at 1225 pm and after completing the entire formulatities including Registration he remained in the queue from 12.35 to 2.50 pm but was not examined by the doctors.. The staff member also requested the senior doctors who examined the patients earlier but he had to return without getting observed by the doctors..  Having no other option, the patient said that he was scheduled to attend his duty in the High court after 330 pm therefore he returned back. The issue was raised with the IGMC administration but no reply was received on this matter. The further investigation in the matter by this correspondent found that Himachal Pradesh High Court also posted a protocol officer in IGMC but he could not be contacted so far. The protocol officers ensure that all high court staff got proper treatment in the IGMC and other hospitals of the towns. The victim staff members rushed to ENT OPD without taking the services of protocol officer. One could understand the state of affairs in the primer hospital if patients are not being given proper health check up during their visit at Hospital. The State Government invested a massive amount of public funding on creation of such an Art of Science facility however the experience of patients is trumatic itself. During the Covid pandemic and also recently a couple of patients ended their lives in the IGMC and DDU Shimla hospitals inside the campus too.
