On moral grounds, Sukhu government should resign and seek public support in Himachal again: Jairam
BJP leader of opposition Jairam Thakur while addressing a press conference said that Sukhu government should resign and hold a referendum in Himachal again,
Along with this, opposition leader Jairam Thakur launched a major attack on Chief Minister Sukhu for giving up electricity subsidy.
He said that those who had given a guarantee of providing 300 units of free electricity, how can they now appeal to people to voluntarily give up electricity subsidy. This is a betrayal of the people of Himachal. The Congress party came to power with the same guarantees and today they are toppling the government with the same guarantees.
Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur has fiercely attacked Chief Minister Sukhu. On the Chief Minister’s decision to give up electricity subsidy yesterday, Jai Ram Thakur said that those who had guaranteed 300 units of free electricity during the elections are now talking about giving up the subsidy voluntarily. This clearly shows that the Congress government came to power on the basis of false guarantees. On the basis of morality, the government is not able to fulfill its given guarantees. In such a situation, if the Chief Minister has the courage, he should resign and gain public support again.
Jairam Thakur asked what will be the criteria of the performa given regarding electricity subsidy, the Chief Minister will have to answer whether this decision will be forcibly imposed on the public? Earlier also CM Sukhu had talked about suspending the salary of his MLAs in the assembly, but these Congress MLAs have already taken the salary of three months together.
Jairam Thakur said that there are 26 lakh electricity consumers in Himachal, out of which 125 units of electricity subsidy was being given to domestic consumers since the time of BJP government, but they have stopped that too.
The per unit price of domestic electricity in Himachal is Rs 5.60, out of which a subsidy of Rs 3.53 was already being given, the government is giving only Rs 2.7 paise subsidy to the people for 125 units. For more than 126 units or Rs 6 per unit, a subsidy of Rs 1.83 was given, while for more than 300 units a subsidy of Rs 1.3 was given, which has been stopped by this government. He said that heavy taxes have been imposed on the electricity given to industries. Jai Ram Thakur has termed the two-year tenure of the Sukhu government as a total failure.
Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur took a dig at the Congress government and said that a comedy show is going on in Himachal Pradesh, for which he compared the government to Jaspal Bhatti’s comedy show Ulta Pulta. This government takes one weird decision after another in Himachal, on this occasion Jairam Thakur also mentioned samosa investigation, wild cock, and toilet tax. Along with this, Jairam Thakur also took a dig at the toilet fee imposed by Shimla Municipal Corporation and said that it would have been better if the Municipal Corporation had stopped the toilet fee imposed on women in Manpur.
