Notification issued for a RS seat in Himachal
Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha issued notification for one Rajya Sabha polls in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday.
According to the scheduled issued by State Vidhan Sabha secteriat here today the polling would be held on February 27, 2024.
The process of nomination for the candidates would started from today and nomination paper would be admitted till February 15, 2024 between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm at the designated office of the Returning Officer located in Shimla.
The scrutiny of nomination paper would be done on February 16, 2024 and Candidates would withdraw the nomination before 3:00 pm on February 20, 2024. If necessary, voting would take place on February 27, 2024, between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.
Pertinent to mention that Himachal has three Rajya sabha seats. This elections to 56 Rajya Sabha seats are scheduled across 15 states, of which Himachal Pradesh is one. The hill State would elect one Rajya Sabha member as the tenure of BJP president J.P.Nadda is ending this April.
Out of the 68 member assembly the INC has 40 MLAs . On the other hand opposition BJP has 26 MLAs in the house.
Though both parties are yet to announce their plans, but speculations are that senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra may be the INC candidate for this seat.
