Noise pollution & radiation affecting students at DAV School Rampur 

Himachal Pradesh High Court took cognizance of a complaint about causing noise pollution and harmful radiation by a Gym and mobile towers in front of DAV public school Rampur in the district. The court summoned the reply of the State Government.

A division bench of Justice Sandeep Sharma and Justice Virender Singh has issued notice to the owner of the mobile tower along with the state government and summoned the reply.  

Principal Secretary Revenue, DC Shimla, SP Shimla, and SDM Rampur have been made respondents in the petition along with Environment Secretary.  

The complaint alleged in the petition that the respondent Bhupesh Kumar Sharma has installed a mobile tower on the roof of his house near DAV Public School, Rampur.  Due to this, the health of thousands of students and villagers studying in the school is being affected badly. 

 It has been contended in the petition that the private respondent also runs a gym in his building near the school and plays loudspeakers which is causing noise pollution. 

 Due to this, the surrounding environment is also deteriorating the academic and educational activities of students the petition also stated.

The court was informed by the petitioner in the matter that a complaint was also lodged on February 22, 2023, before the Sub-Divisional Officer, Rampur.  But no action was taken to stop the environmental hazard and sound pollution.

 Petitioner Naveen Kumar has alleged that the roof on which the tower has been erected by the respondent is on the verge of collapse. Moreover, radiation emanating from the mobile tower is very harmful to health. 

 The petitioner has also urged the court to pass orders to the respondents to remove the mobile towers.
