No University in NAAC- A plus ranking

A National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) latest report shows that not a single University and an autonomous institution in the state figure in NAAC A plus ranking. State’ Himachal Pradesh University Shimla topped the entire state after getting 3.21 Cumulative Grade Point.  Shoolini University located in Solan has been at number two in state NAAC ranking has got 2.92 commutative grade point.  NAAC report indicates that basic facilities in private colleges are said to be better than governmen. Central University Dharamsala is third with 2.78 CGPA, Chitkara University is fourth with 2.71 CGPA, JP University is fifth with 2.66 CGPA, Manav Bharati University is sixth with 2.14 CGPA, Maharaja Agrasen University is seventh with 2.13 CGPA and Eternal University with 2.14 CGPA. Also ranked eighth.  On the other hand, 296 colleges and 15 universities in Himachal Pradesh do not have NAAC accreditation. Out of 338 colleges in the state, only 42 out of 23 universities are recognized by NAAC. Applications have been received for NAAC accreditation from 69 colleges. According to the NAAC report, the enrollment of students in the colleges of the state has increased during the last few years. In most of the colleges the admission process is going on online. Institution who enrolled students from weeker section or recognized institutions get more grants by the Central Government. Grants are given by the Ministry of Education for various works. Under this, budget is given to develop infrastructure, build laboratories and grounds and purchase various equipment.
