Night time Highway Closures on Chandigarh-Manali Route for Safety and Speedy Upgrades

Planning a trip to Manali? Travelers using the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway should brace for brief nighttime delays over the next month. Authorities have announced temporary road closures on the Nerchowk–Pandoh stretch near Char Mil to accelerate crucial highway expansion work.

From May 2 to 31, traffic will be halted for two-hour windows—12:30 AM to 2:30 AM and 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM daily—to allow safe blasting and hill-cutting for the ongoing four-lane project.

Mandi’s Deputy Commissioner, Apoorv Devgan, emphasized that the measure prioritizes both passenger safety and faster project completion. “The timed closures will minimize disruption while ensuring smoother and safer travel in the long run,” he explained.
