New De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Center in Sirmaur to Transform Lives
In a significant move to support individuals battling addiction, a new de-addiction and rehabilitation center is set to open in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Located in Kotla Barog of the Dado Deoria Panchayat, this center will provide comprehensive care, addressing the physical, mental, and emotional needs of those struggling with addiction.
As the state’s first model de-addiction and rehabilitation center, it will offer 100 beds and be staffed with dedicated doctors, nurses, and support personnel. The center, established at a cost of ₹5.34 crore, has already received an initial installment of ₹1 crore from the government.
Revitalizing Existing Infrastructure
The center will be housed in the Veterinary Pharmacist Center building of the Animal Husbandry Department in Kotla Barog, with additional land from the Kotla Barog Cow Sanctuary. This initiative breathes new life into a facility that has been closed for years, transforming it into a beacon of hope for many.
Comprehensive Facilities for Recovery
The center will feature rooms, toilets, dining facilities, entertainment areas, a library, a gym, sports facilities, and spaces for meditation and yoga. It will also provide skill development and vocational training, along with essential services like in-house treatment, food, clothing, and laundry.
A Community Effort
Sirmaur District Welfare Officer Vivek Arora highlighted the collaborative effort behind this project, noting that all formalities have been completed following Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s announcement last year. This center aims to help individuals overcome addiction and reintegrate into society with renewed self-reliance and a healthier, happier life.
