Musafir described the state budget as historic and development oriented

Former Assembly Speaker G.R. Musafir has described the budget presented by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for the year 2026-27 as historic and development-oriented. He said that this budget has been prepared in accordance with the hopes and aspirations of the people, with special attention given to all sections of society, including the poor, laborers, farmers, gardeners, and employees.
Musafir said that despite adverse circumstances, the Chief Minister presented a balanced budget, for which the Chief Minister deserves praise. The Central Government has not only discontinued the revenue deficit grant, but Himachal Pradesh is also not receiving its fair share of GST. Furthermore, the state has not received adequate assistance from the Centre for the natural disaster. Prime Minister Narendra Modi even announced ₹1,500 crore for the natural disaster, but to date, the state has not received a single penny. Despite pressure from the Centre, the Chief Minister has made a big promise of continuing the OPS.
He said that in this budget, the Chief Minister has announced a grant of ₹1,500 to poor women and 300 units of free electricity for poor families, which will benefit this segment. Furthermore, by increasing the price of milk, the Chief Minister has benefited cattle farmers. Similarly, the budget also includes a provision for a support price on turmeric and ginger, which will benefit farmers.
He stated that the Yashwantnagar-Sanaura-Chaila road and the Saranh-Chandigarh road received special mention in this budget, for which the people of Pachhad will forever be grateful. The budget also makes special provisions for fish farmers, dairy farmers, small artisans, and farmers, strengthening the rural economy. He stated that systemic changes are clearly visible in this budget, with far-reaching consequences.
