Manali Road Update: New Traffic Plan in Place as Highway Repairs Continue

In the wake of a major natural disaster, large sections of the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway between Kullu and Manali were washed away. Restoration efforts are now in full swing, with road repair and widening work progressing steadily. To ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during this time, District Magistrate Torul S. Ravish has issued a revised traffic plan.

Key Traffic Changes You Should Know:

  • Right Bank Road (Raison to Manali) will be completely closed:
    • From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
    • And again from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM
    • During these hours, all vehicles must use the Left Bank Road via Raison.
  • From 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the Right Bank Road will allow one-way traffic only from Kullu to Manali.
    • Local vehicles between Patlikuhal and Kalath can travel in both directions during this window.
  • Travel Time Alert: It takes around 50 minutes to go from Raison to Aloo Ground.
    • So, the National Highway will be closed to all vehicles at:
    • 4:30 PM from Raison
    • 5:20 PM from Aloo Ground
  • From 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM, the highway will be fully shut down for repair and widening.
    • Only emergency vehicles will be allowed.
    • All other traffic will be diverted via the Left Bank Road.
  • From 9:30 PM to 10:00 AM, one-way traffic will resume on the highway.
    • Local vehicles between Patlikuhal and Kalath can continue to move in both directions.
  • The stretch from Raison to 15 Mile (Dohlunala) remains open for two-way traffic.
    • Beyond that, vehicles will be regulated at 15 Mile and Aloo Ground.
    • Vehicles will be held at:
    • 4:50 PM at 15 Mile
    • 5:10 PM at Aloo Ground
    • These vehicles will be allowed to proceed toward Manali after 9:30 PM.
