Major Drug Supplier Nabbed: Shimla Police Crack Down on Heroin Network

Shimla police have scored a significant breakthrough in their fight against narcotics, arresting a key heroin supplier near the India–Nepal border. The accused, Vijender Singh (35), a resident of Sundha Bhonda village in Chirgaon, was allegedly running a well-organized drug supply chain across Rohru and Chirgaon.

Police revealed that Vijender sourced heroin from Punjab and distributed it through multiple conduits. His arrest follows an investigation that began on February 2, when two Punjab residents were caught with 83 grams of heroin in Rohru. Digital evidence and bank details helped police trace the wider network, leading to the arrest of three more peddlers from Chirgaon.

ASP Abhishek described Vijender as a “habitual offender”, noting that he already faced three NDPS cases from 2018, 2019, and 2022. To evade capture, he fled to Nepal, but a swift manhunt involving Uttarakhand and Nepal police led to his arrest in Banbasa within 48 hours.

So far, six people linked to the network have been arrested. Shimla police reported that in 2026 alone, 94 accused have been arrested in 48 NDPS cases, underscoring the scale of the drug menace and the administration’s determination to curb it.
