Major Accident Averted on Chamiyana Super Speciality Hospital Road; Kisan Sabha Demands High-Level Probe

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Dr. Kuldeep Tanwar, state president of the Himachal Kisan Sabha, said that due to alleged negligence by the Public Works Department, a large tree suddenly fell on the Bhattakufar-Chamiyana Super Specialty Hospital road yesterday, averting a major accident. A passing traveler vehicle narrowly escaped being hit. The vehicle was carrying patients, their attendants, and other passengers.
Expressing deep concern over the incident, Dr. Tanwar said that hundreds of vehicles travel daily on the Bhattakufar-Chamiyana road. Patients going to the Super Specialty Hospital, ambulance services, and civilians constantly travel on this route. Despite this, the Public Works Department’s neglect of necessary safety measures is putting people’s lives at risk.
He said that for the past several months, the Kisan Sabha has been continuously alerting the administration and related departments about the danger of landslides, unstable slopes, and falling trees on this route. He alleges that scientific standards were not properly followed during the road widening work. Where retaining walls, slope stabilization, proper drainage, and other safety measures should have been implemented after cutting, the work was left incomplete, resulting in such incidents.
Dr. Tanwar stated that if necessary safety measures are not taken in time, a serious accident could occur in the future. He demanded that the state government and administration immediately conduct a high-level technical safety audit of the Bhattakufar-Chamiyana Super Specialty Hospital road. He also demanded that safety and stabilization work along the entire route be completed on a war footing. An impartial investigation be conducted to ensure action is taken against the responsible officials and agencies for any negligence in the road widening work.
Dr. Tanwar warned that if the government and the relevant departments do not take immediate and effective steps to ensure public safety, the Kisan Sabha will be forced to launch a democratic and peaceful movement in the interest of the common people.
