Local people demand cleanliness in Koti Bazar

The sanitation system in Koti of Junga Tehsil is running at the mercy of God. The situation is such that the heaps of garbage in the forest adjacent to Koti Bazaar are polluting the environment. In view of the increasing population in Koti Bazaar, there is a demand to give Koti the status of a Nagar Panchayat. Due to the lack of proper arrangements for sanitation by the local Panchayat, the people of Koti Bazaar throw the garbage of their houses in the forests. The possibility of any kind of epidemic spreading due to the spread of this garbage in the coming summer season cannot be ruled out.
Former Pradhan Baldev Puri, MMC Pradhan Kanchan Thakur of the local school and many others said that due to increasing urbanization in Koti Panchayat, the population of this Panchayat has increased to about three and a half thousand. They said that Koti town fulfills all the criteria of Nagar Panchayat and the solution to the deteriorating sanitation system in the city is possible only through Nagar Panchayat. They said that this town, situated between the famous tourist places Kufri and Chail, also has a constant flow of tourists, due to which tourism activities have started increasing in this Panchayat.
Apart from this, there is often a traffic jam in Koti market, which is causing a lot of trouble especially to the local people. People say that along with the offices of various departments in Koti, there is also a degree college and other educational institutions working here, due to which there is an urgent need for planned development of Koti.
Local head Ramesh Sharma said that the Panchayat earlier had a sanitation worker who has left the job and now soon another sanitation worker will be deployed.
